The number of deaths in the previous two weeks is used to calculate if the rate is increasing or decreasing.

For example on the 8th February 2021 there had been a total of 21779 in Illinois, on the 1st there were 21,273 and on the 25th January there were 20,744 so on the 8th the number in last week was 506 and the number in the previous week was 529 a decreass of 4.3%.
